Believing strongly in giving back to her community, Sami has served on the volunteer Board of Directors for her local real estate association for several years and has chaired and co-chaired the Multiple Listing Service committee. She was awarded the prestigious e-Pro® certification, the only NAR approved Internet Certification Program. 85%+ of all real estate buyers begin their search on the Internet, which proves the importance of this designation. She is also a certified ZipForms trainer. She attended the University of Arizona and received a Bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies in 1995. Following this, Sami ventured to the University of Northern Iowa and entered the Educational Leadership, Secondary Education, and Student Affairs to receive a Master's degree in 1998. Her research focused on how people integrate international experiences and make meaning from them. Sami Lyn has a deep belief in the value of education, both in the United States and abroad, and incorporates this extensively in her real estate career. She has always enjoyed hearing people's stories of impactful experiences in their lives. Over the years, she has specialized in commercial, vacant land, business opportunities, timeshares, and residential real estate. In corporate software training, in mergers & acquisitions, as a university administrator, Sami Lyn has consistently approached her work with the belief that preparation, communication, and follow-through are crucial keys to success. Sami loves traveling, so one might guess how she probably spends a great deal of her time. She has a basic understanding of some French, Japanese, and Spanish, and relished any opportunity to practice those language skills with the many international visitors who travel to the Sedona area. Anyone who is up for an adventure and would like a traveling partner is encouraged to contact her! In this interconnected, multicultural, diverse world, Sami is constantly learning from other perspectives to enhance her own ideas about economics, spirituality, ecology, education, careers, politics, and of course, asset management, particularly real estate. "Like the Second Life members, today’s homeowners are technologically savvy so it’s paramount that we offer them the opportunity to engage with, and experience, our brand in a variety of different ways, whether in the real or virtual world. Second Life is an excellent virtual platform that will enable us to interact with consumers where they are meeting today, in online 3-D communities." Members of Second Life (www.secondlife.com) create personas for themselves, known as avatars, which they use to navigate through the community peopled with more than four million residents worldwide. The ability to monitor traffic allows Coldwell Banker to track visit minutes, unique visitors and total visitors, as well as determine which features are used most in the Second Life headquarters. "The Coldwell Banker headquarters in Second Life features www.coldwellbanker.com amenities, including the home value estimator, streaming videos and the ability to search for real world properties and find a sales associate," Young said. "And to keep in the spirit of fun, we wanted to introduce the Coldwell Banker helicopter so that looking for a home in Second Life and exploring our headquarters can be a really unique experience." For those participants who do make a purchase, they can do so using the V-Commerce function, a first in Second Life and unique to Coldwell Banker, in which the avatar can touch a virtual palm-scanner that will automatically provide Coldwell Banker with the buyer’s qualification status and simplify the purchasing process. "Rather than having to negotiate for top dollar with Second Life ‘land barons,’ users can visit our virtual office and interact with our virtual sales associate to buy homes from Coldwell Banker at reasonable rates," Young continued. "Ironically, Colbert Coldwell, and later Benjamin Banker, founded our company after seeing similar practices in 1906 San Francisco. Coldwell Banker was founded just 18 weeks after the earthquake largely because our founders saw the need for ethics and integrity in assisting victims of the devastation who were being preyed upon by unsavory businesspeople. Recent Online FirstsJoining Second Life is the latest online offering from the real estate company.
